Family Friendly Biodynamics: intuitive gardening with children
Learning about the theory of biodynamic gardening can sometimes feel a bit like attending Hogwarts, but it doesn’t have to be complicated.
A lot of the biodynamic principles are just good, commonsense organic gardening — what is often referred to as permaculture, regenerative, no-till, holistic, natural, slow or gentle gardening.
As parents, we want our children to connect with nature, right?
To observe how plants grow, learn to respect creatures like bees, worms, butterflies and snails, and also know where their food comes from.
Learning to make soil is a big part of that.
But how do we teach something that we never learned ourselves?
This is where the latest Blue Borage course comes in.
This course is for families who want to start using biodynamics, parents who want to learn alongside their children and those who want to apply biodynamic methods immediately without spending years learning about the deeper esoteric theory.
Sound like you?
What’s included?
We start with three introductory lessons to set up a child’s garden: choosing a location, deciding what to grow, and making sure composting (or worm faming) is a part of your child’s garden.
This is followed by two units per season throughout the year.
If you’d like to learn more and want to chat in person, then I have calendar slots open here.
You can also watch a pre-recorded introduction session here to learn more about this approach:
All families are welcome, along with the empty nesters like me who are now planning how to garden with grandchildren.

Feedback from a course participant:
The mindset change was huge… the shift in me created a huge shift in the land…
I am building soil.. that’s it.
The more I create soil.. the better the garden thrives.. it’s amazing.
We have starting building a big potting shed and area to grow more of our own seedlings and having space to dry our seeds..
My garden now feels like a snuggly blanket wrapped around our home.
